Patricia Faye Wilson Snider was born August 26, 1931, in Shawnee, OK to George Bernard & Cora Fay (Jones) Wilson and passed from this life January 8, 2015, in Shawnee, OK, at the age of 83 years.
Pat was a 1950 graduate of Shawnee High School, earned her bachelor's in arts, drama in 1954 from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK and went on to earn her master's in fine arts from The University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK.
On August 5, 1955, she married George Dale Snider in Shawnee, OK. Pat was a teacher of drama and speech at high schools in Shawnee, McAlester and Tulsa; head of the Drama Department at St. Gregory's College; and a longtime lecturer and mentor for Weight Watchers International.
She and her husband also owned City Cafe, Grand Cafe, Town Talk Cafe, Wide Awake Cafe, BB&G Marine and East End Fashions.
She was a member of Draper Street Methodist Church and Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher, youth sponsor and participated in the United Methodist Women and LOGOS, as well as any other prayer group she could find;
Rainbow; Past-President of the Jr. Service League;
Co-founder and past Managing Director and Artistic Director of Shawnee Little Theater;Miss Shawnee Pageant Director and Miss Oklahoma Chaperone for 20 years. Pat was selected as one of the Top 100 actresses in the United States.
She was named 1975 Citizen of the Year by the City of Shawnee. In 2008, she received the St. Gregory's University Legacy Award and was honored in 2011 with the Governor's Arts Council Award of Achievement. She was the Founding District Representative of the American College of Theatre in Oklahoma. She directed productions at Aeronautical Museum at Wiley Post, Fountainhead State Lodge and other theaters statewide.
Pat was a longtime member of the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association board and served as the National Irene Ryan Competition field director for five years and participated for many years in the Oklahoma Theater and Speech Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Faye Wilson; stepmother, Blanche Wilson; two sons, Michael Dale Snider and George Dale Snider; infant sister; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob & Bonnie McGowan; and parents-in-law, Mitchell & Dora Snider.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Brad & Teresa Snider, of Shawnee, OK; and Sidney Wayne & Brenda Snider, of Shawnee, OK; one daughter & son-in-law, Pamela Snider Stephens & Tim Stephens, of Shawnee, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Bernie & Ann Wilson, of Tampa, FL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay & Don Miller, of Meeker, OK; and Reta & Vincent DiCastro, of Norman, OK; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Billie Sue & Bill Herrin, of Shawnee, OK; grandchildren, Brandy Snider and Joe Gonzales, Charlie and Maria Snider, David Snider, Sidney Snider, and Dustin Nix, Chase Snider-Jones and wife Ashley, Jessica Boyer, Tessa Riley, Macy Snider and Curtis O'Rorke, Ryan Snider-Jones, Hannah Stephens, and Ian Stephens. Granna is survived by her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Snider, Nathan Snider, Riley Snider-Nix, Kaedin Nix, Kayden Snider, Abel Nix, Baylor Snider-Jones, Liam O'Rorke, Ty Snider, Aliyah Snider, and Turner Stephens; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her precious dachshund, Cricket.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Williams, the Rev. Rusty Williams and Kris Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or Shawnee Little Theater.
